William J. Ginivan

Executive Vice President, General Counsel

William J. Ginivan is Executive Vice President, General Counsel at FBR & Co. and is responsible for all compliance and legal matters.  Mr. Ginivan joined the firm in January 1998 as Deputy General Counsel and was appointed to his current position in January 2000.

Prior to joining FBR, Mr. Ginivan was Associate General Counsel of the Student Loan Marketing Association (Sallie Mae), and from 1994 to 1997, Managing Director and General Counsel of Sallie Mae's investment banking subsidiary, Education Securities, Inc.  Prior to joining Sallie Mae, Mr. Ginivan was an attorney in the Enforcement Division of the SEC.

Mr. Ginivan received a B.A. from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor, with honors, from the College of William and Mary.  Mr. Ginivan is an active member of the American Bar Association, Business Law Section's Committee on Corporate Governance, and serves on the Corporate Advisory Board of So Others Might Eat.
