Robert C. Barringer, CFA®

Portfolio Manager, FBR Fund Advisers, Inc.

Mr. Barringer joined The FBR Funds in May of 2004 from the Citizens Funds, a privately held mutual fund company with $1 billion in assets under management. While with the Citizens, he managed the core growth strategy and co-managed their balanced strategy.  Mr. Barringer also served as Director of Equity Research.

Prior to joining Citizens, Mr. Barringer served as director and co-portfolio manager at AEW Capital Management.  While at AEW, Mr. Barringer was co-portfolio manager of the AEW institutional separately managed and alternative REIT portfolios. Throughout his tenure, Mr. Barringer managed REIT assets on the behalf of a diverse base of institutional, endowment, foundation and corporate pension clientele.  Mr. Barringer began his career as a research analyst covering small- and mid-cap banks and thrifts at Fidelity Investments.

Currently The FBR Funds harness Mr. Barringer’s institutional portfolio management heritage to deliver high quality management and stock selection experience to the FBR Small Cap Fund (FBRYX) and the FBR Large Cap Fund (FBRPX), as co-portfolio manager.

Born in 1961, Mr. Barringer received his B.A. in Economics from Wesleyan University in 1984. He received his MBA from Harvard University in 1990.   Mr. Barringer is a CFA^® charter holder and member of the Boston Society of Security Analysts.
